WESTERN
STATES DRIVER HAZARDS UPDATE Moderate
SNOW accumulations are expected to affect travel conditions above about 4000
feet in southern and central CA, above about 5000 feet in NV, UT, northern AZ,
and through the mountains of western CO, southern ID, and northwest NM.
Accumulations will be between 4 and 8 inches in most of these locations
with even heavier accumulations expected above 7000 feet.
Watch for significantly reduced visibilities in heavier showers and slick
spots on roads. Light
SNOW will fall through the lower elevations of CA, NV, northern and central AZ,
UT, ID, WY, western MT, and interior sections of WA and OR.
Be cautions in these areas as roads will be slick in spots.
Less than 4 additional inches of snow is expected to accumulate in these
areas. Moderate
to heavy RAIN and even a few thunderstorms will be found in CA, NV, western AZ,
UT, and southwest NM. Heavier
showers and storms will be capable of producing isolated lightning strikes,
heavy downpours, reduced visibilities, and minor to moderate ponding of water on
roads. Light
to moderate SHOWERS will be found through portions of WA, OR, ID, UT, MT, WY,
and NV. Watch for minor ponding of
water on roads. WINDS
will gust to over 40 mph through portions of OR, WA, UT, ID, NV, CA, and western
MT. Areas
of FOG will reduce visibilities to less than a mile through portions of NV, WA,
and OR. FLOODING
due to high tides, rough seas, and heavy rainfall will impact travel conditions
just along the Pacific Coast of southern and central CA. Information is available for central and eastern states, but not shown here.
